Empress Avene Media was founded in 2018, originally offering unique production and post support for digital projects, commercials and TV movies on southern Vancouver Island. Since then, we’ve expanded our reach and leaned into our film roots, with a passion for strong, independent storytelling and a focus on excellence in post.

Producer, Operations Manager
Emrey co-founded Empress with Joseph in 2018, building on over ten years of experience in the entertainment industry as a TV producer, project manager, 1st assistant director, and actor. After mentoring with prolific Canadian producer/director David DeCoteau, Wright’s work has been featured extensively on American networks including Sci-Fi, ION and Lifetime, as well as in festivals and on leading digital platforms worldwide. He’s racked up over a dozen feature producer credits, including recently co-producing comedy caper The Great Salish Heist (2024) starring Graham Greene, and the action movies Viper (2025) and Clear Cut (2024) featuring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Alec Baldwin, respectively.
With Empress Avenue Media, Emrey brings his people skills and business savvy to the table to make sure our stories get the telling they deserve. In his downtime, Emery is likely hanging out with his daughter, cruising on a surfboard, or making music.

Creative Director, Post Supervisor
As co-founder and creative director at Empress Avenue Media, Joseph is accustomed to wearing many hats. His previous film credits include directing, writing, producing, cinematography, editing and graphic design. These days, he primarily works as an online editor and post production supervisor on feature films.
Joseph’s directing credits include documentaries like The Sound of a Pandemic (2025) and Penny Girl (2019), and features like Fragile Seeds (2021). He also worked as 1st AD on Viper (2025) and DP on The Great Salish Heist (2024). An honours graduate of the Vancouver Film School’s Digital Design program, Joseph also worked as a game designer and communications officer before diving headfirst into film. When he’s not behind a camera or in an editing suite, he can usually be found traversing mountains with his dog.

Project Manager
Kate grew up in theatres, finding her love for storytelling at a young age. Since graduating with honours from Capilano University’s Acting for Stage and Screen program, her diverse resume as an actor, stage manager, writer, and production coordinator has given her a unique perspective that she brings to every project at Empress Avenue.
Most recently, Kate worked as the production coordinator on Quiet Storm (2027) and a trainee assistant director on Viper (2026), and is developing a narrative series. As an actor, she can be spotted on shows on NBC, The CW, Global TV, Hallmark, and Lifetime networks and more.
Kate brings her passion for people to managing the wide variety of projects and clients that come through Empress’s doors. When she’s not behind a computer or on set, Kate can be found camping in her 80’s van, wandering the woods with her giant dog, or trying out new recipes.
